The Gorstey Lea Street Choir – mixing epic songs by these inventive chaps

Christmas Single!

Here’s what the chaps have to say about this:

Happy #December, friends and supporters
We hope you are well.
Today we release our version of the traditional #Christmas #song ‘In The Bleak Midwinter’ with an instrumental on the ‘B side’ on all streaming services Spotify Apple Music Amazon.com etc,
More importantly, the Bandcamp release has 4 extra tracks which can be purchased for the mighty sum of £2 (GBP)… or more if you are feeling generous…. all proceeds will go to help the homeless via Shelter #FightForHome
Here’s a #musicvideo to accompany the track
The track was finished, mixed and mastered in June 2021 so you can imagine the face that were pulled as we were driving around in the height of summer blasting out the finished mix to astonishment of the #Burntwood #Staffordshire locals.
Recorded ‘live’ @ the Gorstey Shack (originally in December 2019 for a BBC Music Introducing West Midlands session for @Alex Noble … and then spruced up this summer), with additional guitar flavourings from Luciano Narcisi from Bristol band Los Suns. The track was mixed by George Shilling ‘Sleigh Bells’ Shilling and mastered by Mark Gardener ’Tinsel & Trimmings’ Gardener.
The extra tracks were summoned into sonic alchemy by our good friend and collaborator Choque Hosein thank you brother 🙏🏻
Peace… over and out!!!

The Gorstey Lea Street Choir

The band name The Gorstey Lea Street Choir brings images of some massive ensemble. The Polyphonic Spree, Spiritualized or Shibusashirazu Orchestra come to mind, however this is just two geezers.

Formed one cold winters night in December 2016. Two friends on a life long journey.
Michael
first met Russ in 1985, Michael was 15, Russ was 19.
31 years later they started making music together. The likes of Tom Robinson have championed their epic songs.
And after first getting in touch with me about 3 years ago, they finally engaged me for a bit of mixing!

‘...from Prince’s Park to Farsley – Volume I’

The new album out now includes three songs I mixed. The opener Up With The Larks (which has a bit of cello by me too), One Way Ticket and That Chitty Bang Majik have all had a bit of work done by me. Check them out on Bandcamp:

Singles and videos

Up with the Larks features cello and mix by me.

Mixed by me, terrific single That Chitty Bang Majik is released on all major platforms! https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/thegorsteyleastreetchoir/that-chitty-bang-majik

Gorstey’s Michael Clapham says “Another masterpiece! Sounding rather marvel mouse!!! Cello is beautiful… We love your mixes. Ballad sounds incredible!”
