Faster Pussycat
The history of this band is somewhat lost in the mists of time!
In about 1986 this was the first band I recorded at Livingston Studios (other than my own band) after getting the job there as tape operator. I met them through a friend of a friend (who is now sadly no longer with us). The only member of the band that I have managed to track down is the lovely Esther Hyman, and we had a reunion in London in August 2025 and caught up a bit over lunch! The founder and songwriter was one Jai Rathbone. A huge fan of 60s psychedelia, I remember he made me a mix tape and turned me on to Zappa’s ‘We’re Only In It For The Money’, 13th Floor Elevators and The Seeds. The drummer was a lovely fella called Tony with a girlfriend called Deirdre, and the bass player was Chris.
The audio was restored from digital masters I’d kept all this time on a format known as Sony PCM-F1. It used a processor hooked to a Betamax video recorder.
